XMG Computex 2026

Computex 2026: XMG unveils new XMG PRO 18, NEO 16, and more laptops

At Computex 2026, XMG is showcasing the PRO 18 and PRO 18 Value Edition – the brand’s first 18-inch laptops in approximately 15 years. In addition, the company is announcing a new XMG NEO 16 featuring an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor and an optional OLED display. New variants of the XMG APEX 17, APEX 16 MAX, and PRO 16 Value Edition are also planned, all featuring an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 with 12 GB of VRAM.

XMG returns to the 18-inch laptop market for the first time since the XMG P801 in 2011 – an 18.4-inch desktop replacement with a 16:9 display that was significantly heavier and thicker than modern laptops.

The standard edition of the XMG PRO 18, currently in development, combines an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card and a 300 Hz IPS display at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, 500 nits brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage.

XMG is also planning a Value Edition aimed at a more budget-friendly price range. The XMG PRO 18 VE features a Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 with 12 GB of GDDR7 VRAM and a display with slightly different specifications. While the 1600p IPS panel offers the same brightness and colour gamut coverage, the refresh rate is 180 Hz.

Both processors and laptops support Intel Binary Optimization Tools to improve gaming performance in compatible titles.

Apart from their larger displays and chassis, the 18-inch laptops share the same internal technological platform as the XMG PRO 16, with the only exceptions being the CPU and graphics card. Consequently, external ports, as well as RAM and SSD expansion options, remain identical.

On the rear, the laptops feature the power adapter port, HDMI 2.1, Mini DisplayPort 2.1, and Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort functionality and 100 W (20 V, 5 A) or 140 W (20 V, 7 A) Power Delivery. Connectivity options on the sides include a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port with DisplayPort 1.4a and 100 W Power Delivery, three USB-A 3.1 Gen1 ports, a 2.5-gigabit Ethernet port, an SD Express-compatible card reader for full-size SD cards, and a 2-in-1 audio jack for headphones and microphone. While the Thunderbolt and USB-C ports are routed via Intel’s energy-efficient iGPU, HDMI and Mini DisplayPort are connected directly to NVIDIA’s high-performance dGPU. Wireless connectivity is provided via Wi-Fi 7.

The laptops offer two SO-DIMM sockets supporting up to 128 GB of DDR5-6400 RAM with CSO-DIMM support, alongside two M.2 SSD slots – one with PCI Express 5.0 and the other with PCI Express 4.0 – allowing flexible storage and memory configurations.

Both the PRO 18 and PRO 18 VE include a 99 Wh battery and, unlike the PRO 16, feature an expanded sound system with four instead of two speakers. In addition to a 151.5 x 96.5 mm glass touchpad, there is a new keyboard that makes more efficient use of the space available in the larger chassis, and a Full HD webcam with Windows Hello via infrared.

Despite the generous 18-inch form factor, both laptops remain comparatively light and slim, weighing around 2.8 kg with a height of approximately 24.5 mm. The display lid is constructed from aluminium to enhance structural stability.

XMG NEO 16: Optional OLED display, CPU upgrade to 290HX Plus

In addition, XMG announced an updated version of the high-end NEO 16 laptop, based on the existing chassis. This model continues to offer a choice of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 5080, or 5090 graphics cards, but now features the Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor, the same as in the PRO 18, with full support for the Intel Binary Optimization Tool.

The XMG NEO 16 is set to launch in 2026 with an Intel Core Ultra 290HX Plus processor and an optional OLED display

The Mini-LED panel retains the same specifications as the previous model, featuring a resolution of 2,560 × 1,600 pixels, 750 nits of SDR brightness, 1,000 nits of HDR brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. However, the display is currently undergoing validation by NVIDIA, and XMG plans to add G-SYNC support to this new version of the laptop.

For the first time, the NEO 16 will also be available with an OLED display option. This panel offers a resolution of 2,560 × 1,600 pixels, a 240 Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, and 500 nits of SDR brightness. A confirmed figure for peak HDR brightness is not yet available.

XMG APEX 17, APEX 16, and PRO 16 VE to feature RTX 5070 with 12 GB VRAM

XMG has announced a new series of laptops equipped with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070, now featuring 12 GB of VRAM instead of 8 GB. These models will expand the existing range of configurations.

The XMD APEX 17 is set to launch in 2026 with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 featuring 12 GB of VRAM

The XMG APEX 17 will be the first of these laptops to launch, with its release scheduled for the coming weeks. This 17.3-inch laptop features an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor and a 16:9 IPS panel with a resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels, 300 nits of brightness, a 240 Hz refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage.

Next is the 16-inch XMG APEX 16. As before, it is available with either an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX or Ryzen 9 8945HX processor and features a 16:10 IPS panel with a resolution of 2,560 × 1,600 pixels, 500 nits of brightness, a 300 Hz refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage.

In addition, the Value Edition of the XMG PRO 16, which was previously available only with an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, will now also be offered with the GeForce RTX 5070 12 GB as an alternative configuration. The IPS display specifications are identical to those of the APEX 16.

Pricing and availability

The first model to launch will be the XMG APEX 17 with a GeForce RTX 5070 and 12 GB of VRAM, which is expected to arrive in mid-June. This will be followed by the XMG APEX 16 and PRO 16 VE with the RTX 5070/12, the XMG NEO 16 with a Core Ultra 9 290HX processor and optional OLED display, and the two newly developed 18-inch laptops, the XMG PRO 18 and XMG PRO 18 VE, which are scheduled to launch at various points between August and September 2026.
