However, the FUSION 16 sets itself apart by featuring the significantly more powerful Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and a range of additional premium features. These include support for PCI Express 5.0 for the primary SSD, faster CSO-DIMM RAM, and Thunderbolt 4. On the graphics side, the laptop can be configured with either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 or RTX 5060. While the CORE 16 is limited to a 1600p IPS display, the FUSION 16 adds an optional 1800p OLED panel to the mix. Other specifications remain consistent between the two models, such as a 99.8 Wh battery, support for up to 128 GB of plugged-in RAM, and up to 16 TB of SSD storage.

<div many laptops as possible in both Intel and AMD configurations. The XMG FUSION 16 (M25), powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, stands as the counterpart to the recently launched CORE 16 (M25), which features an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. With its 24-core architecture, comprising 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores, the Intel processor delivers significantly higher multicore performance than the 12-core AMD alternative.

What makes the FUSION 16 stand out is that this high-end HX-series CPU is integrated into a comparatively lightweight chassis, weighing just 2.1 to 2.2 kilograms depending on the selected display – with the OLED version being slightly lighter. The 357 x 254 x 23 mm aluminium chassis is identical to that of the CORE 16 (M25) and houses a 99.8 Wh battery. A 240-watt power supply provides external power, while the graphics configuration includes either a GeForce RTX 5070 or 5060, both running at NVIDIA’s maximum specified graphics power of 115 watts including 15 watts of Dynamic Boost.

The dual-fan cooling system in the XMG FUSION 16 is largely based on that of the CORE 16, but with one key difference: the FUSION 16 uses fans measuring 84 mm and 80 mm in diameter, allowing the slightly larger fan to move more air and deliver higher cooling performance. Fresh air is drawn in from both the underside of the laptop and the keyboard area, while heat is dissipated through two rear air outlets and heat sinks equipped with a total of 153 copper cooling fins. Both the CPU and GPU rely on Honeywell PTM7958 phase-change thermal pads for optimal heat transfer.

Combined, these elements result in strong cooling capabilities – enough to make the XMG FUSION 16 one of the most powerful laptops in the 2.1 kg class when it comes to sustained CPU performance, as the power limit figures confirm:

CPU: peak / sustained

150W (up to 2 min) / 140W

GPU: sustained

115W

CPU & GPU: sustained

170W

Power limits XMG FUSION 16 (M25)

In addition to predefined performance profiles ranging from maximum performance to very quiet everyday operation, the XMG Control Center offers extensive customisation options. Users can fine-tune the balance between performance and acoustics to suit their personal preferences – from adjusting individual fan curves to precisely setting the power limits. For the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, the PL1 can be configured between 10 and 145 watts, the PL2 between 10 and 155 watts, and the PL4 between 20 and 290 watts. The graphics performance of the RTX 5070 or 5060 can also be adjusted between 50 and 115 watts.

1600p IPS Display with 300 Hz or 1800p OLED Display with Maximum Colour Brilliance

The new XMG FUSION 16 offers a choice between two 16-inch display options, setting it apart from the XMG CORE 16. The anti-glare IPS panel features a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, a 300 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of brightness, and full coverage of both the DCI-P3 and sRGB colour spaces. It’s the same panel already used in other 2025 XMG laptops. Through the XMG Control Center, users can access colour-calibrated display profiles and switch the refresh rate to energy-saving 240 Hz or 60 Hz modes.

As an upgrade, XMG offers an OLED panel with a higher resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, 400 nits brightness, and 100% coverage of both DCI-P3 and sRGB colour spaces. Alongside the increased pixel density, the OLED panel impresses with perfect black levels and vivid colours characteristic of this display technology. Just like with the IPS version, XMG includes calibrated colour profiles and an optional 60 Hz mode for improved energy efficiency via the Control Center.

Up to 128 GB DDR5 RAM and 16 TB SSD Storage Including CSO-DIMM and PCIe 5.0

Compared to the AMD-based CORE 16, the Intel-powered XMG FUSION 16 stands out with two key advantages: the primary M.2 SSD slot is connected via PCI Express 5.0 x4 instead of PCIe 4.0, and the laptop supports high-speed CSO-DIMM RAM modules with up to 6400 MT/s. Both M.2 slots allow for a total of up to 16 TB of SSD storage, while the two SO-DIMM slots support up to 128 GB of DDR5 memory. To ensure optimal thermal performance, heat shields and thermal pads are used.

Extensive Connectivity and Many Rear Ports

As a close counterpart to the CORE 16, the XMG FUSION 16 offers similarly extensive connectivity – with some key enhancements. These include Thunderbolt 4 instead of USB4 and a faster 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port in place of standard Gigabit LAN.

The rear side of the chassis hosts Thunderbolt 4 with DP80-compatible DisplayPort 2.1 and 140 watts of Power Delivery (20 V, 7 A), a DP40-compatible Mini DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1 with 48 Gbps bandwidth, and the power supply connector. Additional ports include USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with DisplayPort 1.4a and 100-watt Power Delivery, three USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, a 2-in-1 audio jack for headset and microphone, and a full-size SD Express-compatible card reader. Wireless communication is handled via Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6E, depending on the selected WLAN module.

While the Mini DisplayPort and HDMI port are connected directly to the powerful NVIDIA dGPU, the DisplayPort functionality of the USB-C and Thunderbolt ports runs through the Intel iGPU for maximum energy efficiency. As a result, the FUSION 16 can natively control up to four external monitors in addition to its built-in display.

RGB Keyboard with N-key Rollover and Numeric Keypad

The keyboard is the same model found in most of XMG’s 2025 laptops and offers a full range of features: RGB per-key backlighting, N-key rollover, anti-ghosting, a full-size numeric keypad, offset full-size arrow keys, and concave keycaps.
